Last November I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. With the medication I have been taking I am feeling much more “normal”. Today was my 3 month check up. While I was there I mentioned to the doctor a strange symptom I have. When I am cold my fingers will suddenly go numb and turn white..like scary white. I didn’t get all the words out of my mouth before the doctor finished my sentence for me…the fingers start to hurt and it also happens to your toes….um…yes. How did he know that? Well, there is actually a name for this strange occurrence. I am the proud owner of another disease….Raynaud’s disease.
Both of these “diseases” sound a whole lot more exciting than they actually are. At least if I have to have two diseases these are pretty tame ones to have. Today my Mom mentioned that I got all the strange sicknesses in the family…but I guess that just means that I am the special one! Do you think that I could qualify for a blue placard now?

Congratulations? LOL! I’m *that one* in my family, too. If someone is going to pick up a strange virus or something, it’s me.
I love how the Raynaud’s disease is more of a nuisance! That is a good thing. Rather it be a nuisance than something serious! You are *special*, MZ! 🙂
I find it particularly funny that the definition points out that people the symptoms of cold fingers, toes, noses, and ears are “… more common in people who live in colder climates.
I also think that Hashimoto’s Disease sounds cool. It reminds me of Quasimodo. Good thing you don’t have that hump on your back.
Finally, I always knew you were special 🙂
