I was going to write today about how to cure a “sick” child, but my supposed cure ended up to be false. LittleZabba has been working on a cold for nearly one week now. She has been somewhat punky, but for her it hasn’t been too bad of a cold. This morning she was particularly emotional and pretty needy. She started to complain that her ear hurt. In the span of 30 minutes she mentioned her ear several times. Reluctantly I decided to call the doctor to get an appointment for today just in case she had an ear infection. We love our Pediatrician, but it seems like every time we go there the kids get infected with a different set of germs. Anyway, the second that I got off the phone with the office LZ started saying that her ear was all better and she did not complain about it again. I thought about canceling the appointment, but went anyway. This is where I thought that the cure for a sick kid was to just make a doctor appointment. Well, I was wrong. The doctor looked at her ear and she has a raging ear infection. To quote Dr. A “It looks really messy in there. This is a bad one.” He was surprised that this was the first day that she complained about it hurting. LZ is all medicated now with her antibiotics, and Tylenol/Motrin every 4 hours, and we will see the Dr. again in 2 weeks for a re-check. Hopefully we didn’t catch anything while we were there.
