Tonight on American Idol, Idol Gives Back, the final song of the night was Shout to the Lord. I think it is very cool that of all the songs they could have chosen they chose this one. I hope those who were watching the show actually listened to the words of the song.
Shout to the Lord
Shout to the Lord, all the earth,
Let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands,
Forever I’ll love You, forever I’ll stand,
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
My Jesus, My Savior,
Lord, there is none like You;
All of my days
I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength;
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You.

My jaw was in my lap when this song started, but the preacher husband had to point out that they never sang “Jesus”. They started with my Shepherd, my Saviour. Now, most of us would still credit that to Jesus, but all in all, I still can’t believe it was on American Idol.
Actually hubby just walked by and said, “Heck, I’ll take anything!” 🙂
I take it all back! I just watched the results show and they sang “Jesus”.
I wonder why they changed the lyrics in the first place, and then sang it the right way the next day. Very curious.
